Rock & Republic is mostly known as a fashion label with a heavy emphasis on denim. They were briefly associated with Victoria Beckham, a partnership that ended in a lawsuit, have a bold and noticeable logo, an edgy image and an utterly impossible 36" inseam. Last year they also launched a high-end makeup line, which from what I've tried so far is surprisingly good and definitely luxurious.
The pressed blushes have three finishes- matte, shimmer and sheer, and porn names, because it's a well-known fact that a woman who buys an expensive blush is actually thinking about foreplay. Those not put off by names like Spank, X-Rated and the aforementioned Foreplay will discover that Rock & Republic offer very smooth and soft textures that are easy to blend and rich colors (some of them are pretty out there).
I chose Bedroom, a very warm toned pink that doesn't go all the way into peach territory. It's very pigmented, so a light hand and a good brush are essential. Bedroom has a matte finish and blends nicely with anything else I have on my face. When wearing it there's absolutely no need for a bronzer or any extra color. A light dusting of nude finishing powder is all I add.
Rock & Republic have a tendency for over-packaging. It's pretty and sturdy, but is the huge hatbox that holds the compact really necessary? I'm not complaining, though, because I really like the width of the compact. I can use the biggest, fluffiest brushes and swirl it lightly over the surface, which is much better than using a blush that comes as a small and narrow stripe.
